What’s Body Doubling All About?

As adults with AuDHD (Autism and ADHD together) we know how tough it can be to get started on tasks and it can feel like hitting an invisible wall. Executive dysfunction, sensory overwhelm, and perfectionism can make even simple tasks feel confusing or emotionally loaded. Focus can be difficult to sustain, especially when attention shifts rapidly or when there’s uncertainty about how to begin.

Body doubling offers a powerful form of support by providing calm, non-judgmental presence. Just having someone else there—quietly working alongside you—can reduce internal pressure, make starting feel safer, and create a gentle sense of shared momentum that helps you stay anchored and engaged.  Flourish With Neurodiversity offers a free, 1 hour, weekly body double group. A weekly session every Wednesday designed to boost your productivity using a few simple but powerful techniques. These include structured time blocks, working alongside others, and the subtle motivation of being part of a group.

It’s free, friendly, and flexible – just turn up and get things done.

There is no commitment to be on camera or socialize, its a low pressure environment to get tasks done - this could be anything you find challenging such as -

  • The mountain of laundry

  • That paperwork you’ve been avoiding

  • Housework

  • Life admin, a project or business task

  • Or anything that’s been mentally draining you and you just need some support to get it done.

🕒 The Power of Timed Focus (Pomodoro-Style)

Body Doubling uses a simple approach that breaks your time into short, focused work sprints (usually 25 minutes), followed by short breaks. It’s a gentle but effective way to stay on track without burning out.

These timed sessions help reduce procrastination and make big jobs feel more manageable – whether it’s writing notes, replying to emails, or sorting out billing.

🤝 Body Doubling with Ellie – Especially for Adults with AuDHD

In our AuDHD Body Double Group, you’ll be supported by Ellie, who lives with AuDHD herself (that’s ADHD and Autism together). She gets the unique challenges this profile brings – like decision paralysis, sensory overload, perfectionism, or task-switching struggles – because she lives it too.

Ellie a mother of four home educator and Body Double Coach.

She was misdiagnosed as a child with depression, but always knew there was something different in her that didn’t quite fit with mainstream life.

Like when you try to place a puzzle piece the wrong way and had always felt so misunderstood.

It was only when her children were diagnosed, she managed to put her finger on why she had always felt this way and obtained a diagnosis herself of AuDHD.

It was such a revelation and she finally started to feel whole. Body Doubling is one strategy Ellie is passionate about sharing and supporting others.

Now she is thriving, making up for all of them lost years and so passionate about helping you others do that too.

Body Doubling means doing tasks while someone else is present – virtually or in person – even if you’re working silently. It’s a surprisingly effective way to stay focused, especially for those of us with neurodivergent brains.

Having a calm, understanding presence by your side (even virtually) can reduce overwhelm and make starting easier. Ellie isn’t there to judge or supervise – just to co-regulate, encourage, and help you feel less alone in the process.

This kind of support is especially helpful if:

  • You find it hard to start tasks, even ones you want to do.

  • You get stuck in overthinking or avoidant loops.

  • You feel isolated when trying to tackle admin alone.

  • You work best with gentle accountability, not pressure

Ellie also offers additional Body Doubling Sessions for a fee.

She has obtained a Level 2 autism and understanding qualification

Nvq in early years education.

Level 3 TA awarded.

Introduction to understanding child and young people’s mental health

An introduction to counselling skills.

Reiki and Mindfullness Courses

She is DBS checked and Safeguarding Trained.

The Magic of Working Alongside Others

Something special happens when you work in a group – even if no one’s talking. Just knowing others are also getting things done creates a shared sense of focus and motivation.

Our AuDHD body double group taps into this natural boost by bringing people together (on mute!) for a shared admin sprint. It’s not about competition – it’s about connection and momentum. If your admin is piling up and you're craving a calm, structured space to work through it, this might be just what you need.

Let’s get it done, together.
